Google Local Expert

Connect people to places they care about in their community

Local Expert is a new concept that would allow trusted Local Guides to essentially become experts of an area to manage and give personal insights to help other users.

Challenges

Design an end-to-end experience for users to provide user generated content to places in their community Promoting active user engagement by providing more tools for users to self-select their contribution types.

Goals

Create an end to end experience for Google Maps users who frequent places in their neighborhood, allowing them to feel more connected to their community while also creating user generated content for maps.

Discovery

When an elite guide reaches a specific level or point criteria, an icon appears to become a Local Expert.

Introduction

A guide has the opportunity to contribute expert knowledge to a location in their community.

Toggle on Expert mode to see places that have limited contributions and identify where you can build info for your community.

User selects a location and a panel will show up with View and search stats alongside completion points for the task.

Each questionnaire has a specific amount of points attached to it.

Answering important facts helps the progression health of the establishment grow.

A final overview of all the points you gained that goes toward prizes and perks.
